Our History

DC Gallery & Studio was founded in March 2022 by visual artist, professor and muralist Danielle Cartier. Danielle Cartier has been making large scale, mixed-media paintings and public art murals in the Philadelphia region and Southern New Jersey since 2015.

Originally from Northern California, Cartier relocated to Philadelphia to attend graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and train with the the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. After graduating in 2017 with her Master of Fine Art from the University of Pennsylvania, Danielle accepted a public art residency in Camden, New Jersey. From 2017-2021, Cartier participated in countless local exhibitions, taught courses in drawing/painting at Rutgers University- Camden and created over 25 grant-funded, public art murals in Camden County.

In 2022, Danielle relocated her studio and opened her own, independent art gallery  in the Millville Glasstown Arts District. Located at at 508 N. High Street, DC Gallery & Studio is a female, artist-owned, art gallery and studio that features contemporary art in a wide variety of media by emerging and established Southern New Jersey artists.

These days, DC Gallery & Studio owner/curator Danielle Cartier exhibits her large-scale, mixed media paintings nationwide.  In addition, Cartier teaches art studio and art history to undergraduate art students at Stockton University and Rowan University.  Danielle also teaches adult, community-based art classes at Perkins Center for the Arts in Collingswood, NJ and Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA

In her new role as curator and gallery owner, Cartier is thrilled to showcase emerging and established South Jersey artists and provide new arts programming and opportunities to local community residents and creatives in Southern New Jersey.
