History

Our History

DC Gallery & Studio was founded in 2022 by visual artist, professor & muralist, Danielle Cartier. Danielle Cartier has been making large-scale, mixed media paintings & public art murals in the Philadelphia region and Southern New Jersey since 2015.

Originally from Northern California, Cartier relocated to Philadelphia in 2015 to attend graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania & train with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. After graduating in 2017 with her Master of Fine Art degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Danielle accepted a public art residency in Camden, New Jersey. From 2017-2021, Cartier participated in countless local exhibitions, taught courses in drawing/painting at Rutgers University- Camden and created over 25 grant-funded, public art murals throughout Camden County, New Jersey.

In 2022, Danielle relocated her art studio & opened her own, independent contemporary art gallery in downtown Millville, New Jersey. Located at at 508 N. High Street, DC Gallery & Studio is a female-owned art gallery, maker retail space & studio featuring contemporary art in a wide variety of media by emerging & established local artists.

These days, DC Gallery & Studio owner/curator Danielle Cartier exhibits her large-scale, mixed media paintings regionally & nationwide.  In addition, Cartier teaches various studio art courses to college students at Stockton University & Rowan University, both in southern New Jersey.  Danielle also teaches adult, community-based art classes at Perkins Center for the Arts in Collingswood, NJ and Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, PA.

In her new role as curator and gallery owner, Cartier is thrilled to showcase emerging & established artists while also providing new arts programming & opportunities to local communities & creatives in New Jersey.
